How people gain power.
A man can gain power through two general methods, fear or kindness. I am a kind ruler, or I do hope my subjects think so, and I gain their trust and devotion through my acts of kindness to inspire them to be the same. Others ,however, gain leadership through fear, and while this can be far more effective than kindness, it can end up spoiled if one is not careful. I just hope after I die the next king won't be such a tyrant and slash himself with his own double-edged sword.

ReplyDeleteIf only everyone in your kingdom had followed your lead. Clearly, you were a revered ruler. It was obvious that Macbeth thought the world of you as did so many others. You had an impeccable reputation and the trust and devotion of many. Yes, this is the ultimate way to get power over others and I think it would have worked had it not been for those darn witches. They are the ones who ruined everything. Who know what else you might have accomplished? You will be missed.
